Summery Tops

This month I've been busy working on some new cotton tops
for warm weather.  My favourite is this one with black floral eyelet.

This simple top has a single pearl button closure at the back.

And finally, this retro-looking strapless top.  The skirt is made up
of 4 separate panels that flow and are open to the bodice - great
for when this weather turns warm!
Each panel is finished off with a rolled hem.

Larger Kool Aid Jammer bag

Since my 9 year old niece, Emma, went on a mission at school
to collect Jammer bags for me, I decided to make a different
bag than my usual.

This bag has off white grosgrain ribbon handles, with
a strip of grosgrain trim around the top.

Thinking of Warmer Temps!

I recently got a couple of fun new fabrics and have big plans
in store for them.  With my pattern Simplicity 4127, I'm sewing
up a couple of new summer tops for my February trip to Cuba.

Light cotton with black embroidered flowers, so cute.

This cotton print is a mix of gorgeous colours that made me think '70's style!

Tote Bag/Beach Bag at the Cabin

It's a new year, so it's time for new creations at Log Cabin Sewing Studio.
I've started off the year with a pink and black tote bag.  We spend so much time
in arenas during the winter, that it's nice to imagine using this bag on the beach!
It's the perfect size for carrying a towel, book, sunglasses
and flip flops.

Striped lining with inside pockets, with a flat bottom for extra carrying space
(great for all your beach must-haves!)

The magnetic closure lets you snap it up and be on your way!

Rag Santas and Prim Snowmen

This Christmas I really got into "primitive" mode!  Making gifts for teachers,
and a couple of decorating accents for myself were some last minute
projects before the holidays.  Christmas is over for another year,
but better late than never to post a few photos.

Horse Stuffy at the Log Cabin

I have a 5 year old great-niece who loves nothing more than horses!
After cruising around eBay looking at sewing patterns,
I knew the horse in this Butterick pattern would be well loved!!

Isn't he sweet?

Yo-Yo Trees and Hand Knit Socks for Christmastime

One of my lastest creations is a couple of sets
of yo-yo Christmas trees, made with country fabrics and
sticks and stumps from around my property.
A cute Christmas accent for a country home!

Another creation is this "new" Christmas family heirloom for
my kids.  I recently inherited their Grandmother's knitting box
and found several socks with unfinished mates.
What better way to showcase Grandma's lovely
handknit socks than to display them as
Christmas stockings?
The kids really love this new decoration in our home.
