Blue Jean Repair

A little sewing repair to extend the life of my son's favourite jeans.
Winter has officially arrived in Campbellford, so making these holey-kneed jeans
into a pair of shorts wasn't an option ... yet!

Just another casualty from playing mini stick hockey at recess:

But a little reinforcement will keep him in the game.

Happy New Year!

Welcome 2012, you're going to be a great year!  I'm so excited to see what this year has in store for Log Cabin Sewing Studio.  Armed with lots of fresh ideas, new patterns and fabric and my first "alteration" job of the year, I'll be heading back into the sewing room tomorrow morning after a wonderful holiday break.  Happy 2012!

Yesterday's Sewing Creations

Yesterday was a busy day in the sewing room!
First, I made a cast sock for a little guy who has a broken foot.
Unfortunately, that means no hockey for awhile,
but he will be right there supporting his team
(the Campbellford Colts, of course) in his cast,
with a cast sock that I designed to look like a hockey sock.

With a double thickness of fleece on the foot for extra arena warmth!
~

Next, I made a Hello Kitty cushion from a picture I found of  this simple, strange little cat.
Purr-fect Christmas gift for my son's new girl, who like most teenagers it seems, loves Hello Kitty!

Then, I was on to some glitzy, sparkly, very pink skirts for a little girls' dress up box.

In my experience with little girls, the more sparkles and glitter the better!

Sweater Repair

This sweater collar was coming apart at the seam along the shoulder.

A few stitches later, the collar is re-attached.

Slippers for Little Ballerinas

First, I made some tutus...

and realized that tutus would be so much more fun if they were worn with ballet slippers!
So I headed into the sewing room to stitch some little ballerina slippers.  These slippers
are made from polar fleece and bits and pieces of recycled clothing.

They are comfy, cozy and cute, too!

Campbellford Colts Colours!

Campbellford Colts hockey fans:
Support our teams and stay warm with cozy Colts winter accessories in polar fleece.  For the whimsical, the gold and black stocking cap,

Or the snazzy boa scarf,

The pom-pommed cap,

Or finally the flip-sided mittens,

Go Colts!!!
