Preparing for Winter with Jacket Repairs

It's that time of year where we pull out our family's warm fall and winter jackets
and take stock of what still fits, and what might need repaired.  Kids are
hard on their clothes, and most times they are worth repairing.

Like the zipper in this fleece Bench jacket,
And a winter jacket zipper,

The underarm seams on this West 49 jacket,

And a corner tear on the sleeve of this child's winter coat,

Are you all set for the cool weather that's on it's way?

Animal Blankies made at Log Cabin Sewing Studio

Last spring, my kids both had teachers who were expecting babies.
The new moms loved these little animal blankies, just under 24 inches long,
that are perfect for snuggly, sleepy or play time.
This led to the production of some custom orders.... a monkey
and a pair of ducks.

Men's Shirt Alteration

This men's Hawaiian-style shirt was 1 inch too big on each shoulder
and 2 1/2 inches too big on each side.

And the finished alteration:

Sleeve Shortening Alteration

I have a regular client of Log Cabin Sewing Studio
that is a petite little thing.  I've never understood whom this style
is designed for - that short cropped body and really
long sleeves!

With 3.5 inches off the length of the sleeve, we have a much more tailored fit.

Camouflage Pop-Up Hunting Tent Repair

This was a new challenge to sew.  A polyester hunting tent with
several tears, one a large T-shaped rip.

And a very frayed straight tear....

And with some inside patches and double stitching, it's ready for hunting season!

 Very awesome structure, isn't it??
