A Little Painting Project

Several years ago, before kids and work and endless household chores
got in the way, I loved to paint.  I loved to sew too,
but I also loved to paint!  Last week, when a friend asked for help
to finish off a project, I jumped at the opportunity!  Her son, who has
an after-school job on a farm, had painted a cow cut-out, but was afraid to paint the face.
I was entrusted with the duty of giving ol' Bessy a makeover!

Maybe it's time to dust off those paint bottles in the basement!

Dress Pants Hemmed

This client couldn't resist the excellent deal on this new
pair of dress pants.  The only problem was, they were "long"
for very tall women.  No problem, Log Cabin Sewing Studio
loves hemming!

Sewing with Linen

When asked to make a donation to the upcoming Agricultural Society silent auction,
I knew just what to do - make two lovely linen throw cushions
with zig-zagged ruffles.  The frayed ruffles give these chic linen pillows
a more casual look, and in a colour that goes with everything.
The question is, what to call that colour?  Is it grey or is it taupe??

Fly Zippers Replaced!

Lately it seems that I've been busiest in the sewing room
replacing fly zippers.  And not regular-sized fly zips, but those teeny, tiny ones
in low-rise skinny jeans.  Those barely there zippers sure do wear out!

But now they're as good as new!

Then, on to another pair of skinny jeans:

A simple fix for a major pants-problem!

Swimsuit Cover-Up

Here's my latest creation in the sewing room - a swimsuit cover-up.

With a cute single button closure.

Made from a tunic length t-shirt,

And the orange ruffle from a recycled t-shirt:

Now to find more uses for my stack of old t-shirts!!

Dress Alteration

This pretty summer dress, even in the smallest size available,
was still just a little too big.  A couple of tucks here and there,
and we have a perfect fit.
